We’re back with another episode of the AMS Archives 📽️ In the first episode, we hopped in the Wayback Machine back to 2001 for a look back at the early days of AMS Performance ⏮️ In this episode, we travel back in time to another defining era in AMS Performance history: The Age of Evolution 🚘
The year is 2003: You’re watching MTV while picking your new top friends on Myspace, when suddenly… Word starts spreading about a new car from Mitsubishi 👂 While you were busy picking favorites, AMS Performance got to work 👨🔧 First, a turbo kit 🐌
Naturally, we needed a testbed for that turbo kit. We assembled what came to be known as the AMS Drag Evo, and the rest, as they say, is history 🏎️💨
For those not fortunate enough to be around for that time, here is a short list of AMS 4G36 accomplishments from that era! 📜
🏁 Set and Reset Evo Quarter Mile World Record x9 (From 10.53 at 137mph in 2004 down to 8.42 at 168mph) Including the First 8 Second Evo VIII
📈 Set and Reset Evo Horsepower World Record x7 (From 808awhp in 2005 to 1,181awhp in 2009)
🚀 Fastest Mitsubishi World Record: 228mph in the Standing Mile (Texas Mile 2010)
🏆 2008 Castrol Top Shop Engine Challenge Winner: 1,035hp from a 2.0L on 100 Octane
🥇 2008 Pikes Peak Hillclimb Class Win: David Kern places 1st in the AWD Class with a Record 11:48.434
