AMS Archives Episode 3: The ALPHA Era 🏁
Last time on AMS Archives: Moments from the early days at AMS 📽️ From DSMs to Evos, days at the track and nights on the street. On this episode, we pick up right where we left off! ▶️ The year is 2009, and we just received word that Nissan is bringing a legendary nameplate to the US for the first time…
The R35 generation Nissan GT-R entered the AMS ecosystem in early 2009 ⏮️ By August of that year, we already started breaking records, a sign of things to come 👀 In August 2009, we set the world record for the fastest R35 GT-R with a 10.48 at 134mph.
2010 rolled around and more of the same, that same AMS GT-R was the world’s first to run a 9 second quarter mile pass 🥇 Before the end of 2010, we broke the quickest and fastest world record two more times, lowering the record to 9.19 at 163mph ⏱️ Quite the improvement in just one calendar year! As you can see from our list of accomplishments below, the record-breaking performances didn’t stop there 😈
But wait, there’s more! 😏 Don’t think we forgot Alpha Omega. Prominently featured in today’s episode. One of the most notorious R35 GT-R there ever was and ever will be. A name synonymous with the R35 GT-R. Alpha Omega’s run was unmatched, dominating race events and breaking world records left and right 🏆 While Alpha Omega has stepped away from the spotlight, the name will live on forever through AMS Performance.
All that, and we’ve only barely scratched the surface. What comes to your mind when you think of the GT-R era at AMS Performance? 💭
