Our Alpha R35 GT-R Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake was designed to draw a higher volume of cool air into the stock turbochargers while improving the metering capability of the factory Mass Airflow (MAF) sensors. With this intake installed, bulky air filter boxes are replaced with our high flow dry media filters and carbon fiber tubing. This eliminates clutter within the engine bay while drawing cooler air from outside. Increasing the cross sectional area of the tubing allows the factory MAF sensors to accurately meter air flow up to and over 1000HP! A vast improvement over the stock intake system
OEM intake systems are designed to reduce turbocharger noise and prioritize packaging, ease of manufacturing, and cost over maximum airflow. The AMS Alpha Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake removes these restrictions, allowing the turbos to ingest the cold air they need to operate more efficiently and produce more power. As a result, throttle response improves and turbocharger efficiency increases throughout the rev range.
Beyond performance gains, the Alpha intake also restores the mechanical soundtrack enthusiasts love. With the restrictive factory airboxes removed, you can clearly hear the turbos spool and the bypass valves vent under load and throttle lift. It transforms the driving experience while delivering the airflow needed to support serious horsepower.
Because the intake pipes are positioned close to the exhaust manifolds, AMS engineers selected a motorsports grade carbon fiber construction that is both hand laid and highly temperature resistant. Many aftermarket intakes use conventional cosmetic carbon fiber with a gloss clear coat that can discolor, crack, or turn cloudy over time when exposed to high engine bay temperatures.
The Alpha intake instead uses three layers of 1mm twill weave prepreg carbon fiber designed for demanding motorsports environments. This material is capable of sustaining temperatures up to 240°C while maintaining its structural integrity and visual appearance. The result is an intake system that not only performs under extreme conditions, but also retains the premium carbon fiber finish expected from a flagship GT-R component.
The Alpha Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake was engineered for straightforward installation. Unlike some aftermarket intake systems that require removal of the front bumper, this system installs quickly using basic hand tools with no cutting or trimming required. A reusable high flow synthetic dry media filter also reduces long term maintenance costs by eliminating disposable factory paper filters.
Originally designed to complement the Alpha 7 Performance Package for factory Nissan GT-R turbochargers, the intake supports well over 1000 horsepower. The included couplers are compatible with factory turbo inlet pipes from both early and later R35 model years as well as aftermarket inlet pipes that retain the factory two bolt compressor housing configuration.
If your setup eventually exceeds the limits of the factory MAF sensors, the system can easily be converted to speed density operation with the addition of AMS R35 GT-R MAF Block Off Plates, available separately. Because the increased pipe diameter changes the calibration range of the factory MAF sensors, an aftermarket custom ECU calibration is required with your preferred ECU software.
