The weather cooperated for once and allowed for more racing than ever before. Read on to see how the ALPHA Army fared down in Texas this year.

  • Dave wins the GTR68 class for the second time in three years at TX2K

  • In total, the AMS ALPHA Army brought home three 1st place trophies, a 2nd place trophy, and achieved every single goal set before the event

Yet Another First Place Finish for Dave and Wally

For the second time in three years, Dave takes home the GTR68 crown at TX2K in his AMS built GT-R dubbed “Wally”, a tribute to his late father. On the way to his win, Dave ran a pair of low 7 second passes as well as a pair of 6 second passes. A .05 reaction time in the final made all the difference in the win. The win did not come easy, with a transmission issue on the first pass. The team quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue, allowing Dave to secure the #1 qualifying spot en route to the victory. Dave’s quickest pass of the event was a 6.88 at 213mph, just .02 off his personal best time despite a new mph PB.

AMS and Jordan Martin Debut a New Halo Car, the ALPHA GT4, to Great Acclaim

Our team in the shop has been working in secret behind the scenes to bring this project to life and it’s time we shed some light on the build. The ALPHA GT4 is a factory Audi R8 LMS GT4, turned up to 11. Being the GT4’s first time out, we set a reasonable expectation, the goal was to run a deep 7 second pass. We accomplished that goal several times over, running five 7 second passes with a best time of 7.38 at 199mph. We are pleased with the results of the first time out, but won’t be satisfied until we get that 6 second pass. This build has a lot more in it, this is only the beginning. We look forward to getting the car back out soon and running even quicker.

Sana Runs Her First 7 Second Pass! Not Just One, But Two!

Sana had one goal coming into TX2K this year: To run her first 7 second pass. And she wasn’t going to take no for an answer. After running her first 8 second pass last year at TX2K, she knew a 7 would be no easy task. To that end, Sana made a number of changes to her set up including an AMS 4.1L Stage 4 Long Block and MoTeC M150, tuned in-house by our world class twin tuning team. Another fresh build making its debut in Texas that did exactly what it was built to do. After improving on her previous personal best three times over, Sana got her first 7 with a run of 7.996 at 173mph, beating the other lane by a margin of .007. Following a bye in the next round, Sana advanced to the semi finals. While she was unfortunately eliminated in the semis a second year in a row, she did run another 7 second pass with a 7.93 at 175mph. Seven Second Sana has a nice ring to it, but we think Six Second Sana sounds even better. First 8 at TX2K last year, first 7 at TX2K this year, TX2K26 also has a 6 in it, it would only be right!

Curtis’ Freshly Built ALPHA 28 R8 Finishes 2nd, Runs a Number of 7 Second and 200mph Passes

Curtis had two goals coming into TX2K this year: A deep 7 second pass as well as 200mph in roll racing. Check and check, Curtis made six different 7 second passes, with a best time of 7.36 at 196mph. Quick enough to be the second quickest TT V10 of the event as well as 2nd place in the highly competitive DCT Elite class. On top of that, Curtis made five 200mph roll race passes, with a top speed of 214mph. Curtis’ qualifying efforts put him in the 3rd spot in roll racing and the 2nd spot in drag racing. Going on to finish 2nd in drag racing and was eliminated in the quarter finals of roll racing, running his top speed of 214mph compared to 204mph in the other lane. We’d call that a successful first time out on a brand new build. The car went round after round, in both drag racing and roll racing, without skipping a beat.

Four 7 Second Drag Race Passes and Another Four 200mph Roll Race Passes for Luke and His New ALPHA 28 R8

Last year, Luke brought his ALPHA 12 R8 to TX2K and had a great time. But after getting a ride in Jordan Martin’s R8, Luke knew he needed more. From there, Luke and our team got together and formulated a plan to build his R8 into an ALPHA 28 to be ready for TX2K this year. Both sides held up their ends of the deal with our team delivering a freshly built ALPHA 28 to TX2K and Luke driving the wheels off of it. Luke’s goal for the event was to run a deep 7 second pass as well as a 200+mph pass in roll racing. Luke accomplished both goals four times over.  Running four 7 second passes with a best time of 7.40 at 199mph and another four 200mph roll race passes with a top speed of 208mph. Just like Curtis and his ALPHA 28, Luke can’t get enough of this car. While TX2K was less than a month ago, both cars will be back at it this weekend at the Shift S3ctor 1/2 mile event in Hondo, Texas.

A Pair of ALPHA Twin Turbo R8s Win Half of the Roll Racing Classes at TX2K25

After an elimination in the semi finals at TX2K last year, Jonny had one goal in mind for this year’s event: Bring home a 1st place trophy. Jonny went round after round on the way to a 1st place finish in the Super Sport class as part of the roll racing portion of this year’s TX2K. On top of that, Jonny set a new personal best speed of 202mph, topping his previous personal best of 198. All this from our ALPHA 12 package, with a few upgrades. This Vegas Yellow R8 affectionately referred to as “Mustard” features an AMS Stage 1 Long Block, AMS Gearworks Stage 5 transmission build as well as our Intake Manifold. This potent package has proven itself year after year, bringing home a number of trophies in the process. Jonny had the special opportunity to share victory lane with a close friend of his Carlos, piloting the red ALPHA twin turbo R8 known as “Ketchup”. Carlos took home the 1st place trophy in the Sport class and the two were able to share the joy of the moment in victory lane right after their races. Carlos’ R8 features a number of AMS products, including our G35 twin turbo kit, ALPHA fuel system, and more. The two first place finishes for Jonny and Carlos mean that AMS powered vehicles took home two out of the four first place trophies for roll racing at this year’s TX2K.

Brooklyn Motors Makes it to the Semi Finals Despite Starting the Week with an Unfinished Car

It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. The phrase of the week for the AMS ALPHA Army. The TX2K crunch was real for Brooklyn Motors and they weren’t quite able to get the car fully buttoned up before the event kicked off. What started as a G35 twin turbo build, has snowballed into a G42 car with a built motor and transmission. The AMS team put in work during the early part of the event to get the car ready to go racing. The team got the car through tech inspection and Brooklyn Motors was off to the races. Going round after round, making it all the way to the semi finals before unfortunately being eliminated despite running personal best after personal best. This car has come a long way in a short period of time and we look forward to seeing what this build is really capable of in the race season to come.
